Head to Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock for frightfully entertaining Halloween attractions, including a chilly journey through the night on the Ghost Train. It's safe, scary fun for the whole family!
October 5th, 2019
On the first Saturday of October, the streets of Downtown North Wilkesboro will be filled with arts, crafts, food concessions, music stages, and of course- apples! The festival is one of the largest one-day arts and crafts festivals in the Southeast.

Beech Mountain Rec Center
Bring the whole family to Buckeye Recreation Center in Beech Mountain for the annual Leaf Lookers Hayride! Make apple cider, enjoy games and Fall oriented activities and a great hayride through the trees.
October 5th - October 19th (Saturdays)
Emerald Village, Little Switzerland, NC
Emerald Village offers night-time underground mine tours that unlock vibrant hidden colors that can be seen only under ultraviolet light. The brilliant coatings in the Bon-Ami Mine are largely deposits of Hyalite Opal, a true form of opal found in the area. Under the black light, these coatings glow a vivid lime green. The effect, underground at night, is stunning! Check out this unique experience on one of the first three Saturdays of October.

The Todd New River Fall Festival features live music, raffle drawings, crafts, food and fun all day with children's activities and face painting!

Sugar Mountain Resort, NC
Enjoy beautiful Fall foliage, cool mountain temperatures and a weekend full of festival activities! Oktoberfest features fun for the whole family, including arts and crafts, live music, food and drinks, and a costume contest!
Valle Crucis Conference Center Grounds
Valle Crucis is one of the most picturesque valleys in the North Carolina mountains at the peak of the Fall color season. The Valle Country Fair is an authentic harvest-season community celebration, featuring hand-made crafts, home-cooked food and mountain music.
October 19th and 20th
Banner Elk, NC
Since 1978 the residents Banner Elk, the village nestled between the Carolina's largest ski resorts, have celebrated the coming of the snow season with a Woolly Worm Festival. Every third weekend in October is set aside to honor a woolly worm race that will predict the severity of the coming winter. The festival also features crafts, food vendors, live entertainment and much more.
Blowing Rock, NC
Halloween fun for the whole family that's free and open to the public! Head to downtown Blowing Rock for creepy crafts, air walks in Memorial Park, games and a fun house at the recreation center and hay rides through Blowing Rock. The Monster March parade will be at 5:45 and trick-or-treating will start at 6pm, followed by a costume contest.
The Jones House
Every Halloween, the Town of Boone hosts this popular family event in downtown Boone for kids of all ages. Games, arts and crafts are offered at the Watauga Public Library. A spooky tour of the Jones House features tricks and treats around every corner. Trick-or-treating with downtown merchants will be from 5:00 - 6:00 PM. Don't miss this afternoon filled with fun in downtown Boone!
